Loving and Forgiving

Growing up and living with parents, stepparents, adoptive parents or those close by can create not only the personality but also the thinking mind of an individual.  If you're blessed with having loving people around you, the love of God will make you respond positively with hugging, kissing, and godly love. But even if the people around you are controlling, dominating, and abusive, your faith in God will still help you respond positively even to the negative people around you.  Why and how ? God says you should not only honor your father and mother ( Exodu s 20: 12) but also obey them. Your obedience may not immediately lead to their love and approval, but it will lead to the help of the Holy Spirit in changing them ultimately. Remember, God is a father to the fatherless ( Psalm 68:5). So, surrender your will to God, and let the Holy Spirit work in your heart throughout your life through God's Word.  Forgiving your loved ones for their abuses and wrongdoings is e...

Patience and Salvation

Penitence is more than just asking God for forgiveness. Penitence is humans showing their “broken spirits” and their “contrite hearts” with their humility to strengthen their resistance against any future temptation to sins, as well as showing their gratitude to God for His gift of mercy. Only the Holy Spirit can help humans overcome their control and dominance of their flesh to receive the eternal life promised by God. The Eternity Eternal life is a quality of life that begins on earth and continues a new life in heaven. “4   We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4 Jesus says: “ Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life . He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life!” ( John 5:24). “Born Again” Death is a reality and a fact of life. Nobody lives forever. But death is the only ...

Money and Faith

Becoming a person of faith, you’ll also look at living very differently. For example, if your parents asking you to tell a “white lie”, such as saying you “love” some food that you really don’t like, you must say "no" because of God’s truth. Your faith will also stop you from forming the habit of lying in your life. On the other hand, if your parents or those around you are controlling, dominating, and even abusive, your faith will help you respond positively. God says you should not only “honor your father and mother” ( Exodus 20:12), but also “obey” them. Your obedience may not lead to their “love” and “approval” of you, but it will lead to the help of the Holy Spirit in changing them. Remember: God is “a father to the fatherless.” ( Psalm 68:5)  So, surrender your will to God, and let His Holy Spirit  work in your heart throughout your life. The next step to  take is forgiving your loved ones for their abuse and wrongdoings and praying for them. Then, let go of a...

True Human Wisdom

Image
TAO: The Way to Biblical Wisdom The Background Lao Tzu was an ancient sage from China more than 2,600 years ago. According to the legend, he was born with all white hair—a sign of experience and wisdom.   Unlike his contemporary philosopher, Confucius , who had many publications, as well as many disciples and followers, Lao Tzu ’s only publication was   Tao Te Ching ,written in only 5,000 words. According to the legend, Lao Tzu was detained at the city gate and was told that he could not leave China for Tibet until he had put down his words of wisdom. Reluctantly, he put down his wisdom in 81 short  chapters of exactly 5,000 words without any punctuation mark (all the punctuation marks in the text were subsequently added by scholars over the centuries).  Tao Te Ching has become one of the most translated works in world literature, probably ranking with the Bible as one the top ten in popularity. The explanation is that the content is not not only controv...

Be Grateful

Gratitude Is Everything Reconnect your soul or spirit to gratitude. If you are grateful to the Creator for what you have, you may look at the behavior of another individual with more tolerance, or even with a totally different perspective. Blessings in life, such as the gift of life, are generally overlooked or even taken for granted. For example, if someone takes advantage of you, do not become angry immediately; instead, be grateful that you are the victim instead of being the person who victimizes others. Gratitude enables you to develop the mindset for a positive outlook toward your soul. Smile more often. Keep complaints about people, things, and life in general only to  yourself —unless voicing them will help bring about positive changes in others or in society. Gratitude helps you see the good in others, letting you give them the benefit of the doubt. Try to remember that all people are created in the image of God. Focus on the individual as a person, rather than on the beha...
